Photos from Nagasaki Day – Sat August 9th
On Saturday 9th August Merseyside Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament commemorated the atomic bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima in 1945. A selection of the photos of the day is available below.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day
The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in which hundreds of thousands of people were killed, will be commemorated this month.
On 6th August, the date of the Hiroshima bombing, Chester C.N.D. will be holding a Flower Memorial at the Bandstand, The Groves, Chester at 8pm. Then on Saturday, to remember Nagasaki, Merseyside C.N.D. will host the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Erica Kemp at St. John’s Garden, Liverpool at 11am. This event will include music from the Socialist Singers and Neville Grundy plus poetry read by Gordon Nash.

Pax Christi WWI Vigil
Liverpool Pax Christi will be holding a vigil at St. John’s Gardens, Liverpool to commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War One between 12 and 2pm on Monday 4th August. Everyone welcome!
Silent protest for Giants’ visit
On Saturday 26th July activists from the Merseyside Peace Network gathered for a silent protest outside the Unite building to counter the glorification of World War I when the Giants visited Liverpool.
