Nagasaki Day 2017
On Wednesday 9th August, Merseyside C.N.D. commemorated the 72nd anniversary of the atombic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. Killing over 250, 000 people, these events marked the beginning of the most dangerous period in human history. This still continues today, as the Government prepares to replace Trident with a new generation of nuclear weapons.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day 2017
Hiroshima Day
12:30 – 13:30, Sunday 6th August | St Werburgh’s Square, Birkenhead
Remembering, with readings of poems and prose, the 6th August 1945 when USA dropped the first atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima.
The United Nations has agreed, in July 2017, a global treaty to ban Nuclear Weapons. Over 120 countries have agreed. Our government refused to send a delegate to the Treaty conferences and has given the go-ahead for new nuclear weapon bearing submarines.

On Wednesday 9th August, Merseyside C.N.D. will commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in which over a quarter of a million people were killed.
The events of August 1945 marked the beginning of the most dangerous chapter in human history, which still continues today as the Government prepares to spend £250,000,000,000 on a new generation of nuclear weapons.
We invite everyone to join us at St. John’s Gardens and help us ensure such a horrific event never happens again.
