12:00 – 14:00
Saturday 13th, October
Outside Primark, Church St, Liverpool

In August 2018 Donald Trump ordered the Pentagon to create ‘Space Force’ as a brand new branch of the military. Its task, according to the President, is to ensure U.S. ‘control and domination’ of space, if necessary, by fighting wars.

The U.N.’s Outer Space and Moon Treaties declare that space must be preserved for all of humanity. Trump’s plans to weaponise space are in direct contravention of those treaties.

The idea that the U.S. must dominate space is arrogant, stupid, dangerous and highly destabilising to world peace. However, it is in line with Trump’s new belligerence and alarming readiness to use force.

What you can do!

Everyone who believes in peace should protest at Trump’s plans to weaponise space. During 6thth October, the annual KEEP SPACE FOR PEACE WEEK will focus on the ‘Space Force’. Please contact your M.P. and ask them to urge the British Government to denounce Trump’s ‘Space Force’ as illegal, irresponsible and a threat to the future of humanity.

Join us on 13th at 12:00 outside Primark in Liverpool and show your support for peace!

Nuclear Weapons in a Dangerous World

Bruce Kent meeting 9.6.18 John Usher 10 audience

On 9th June at Wallasey’s Spire, veteran peace campaigner, and Vice-President of Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Bruce Kent addressed the issue of nuclear weapons in today’s unstable, unpredictable and dangerous world.

With the United States recently pulling out of the Iran deal, the cancellation of a high-level summit between North and South Korea and the recent meeting of Donald Trump and Kim Jong-il in Singapore, nuclear weapons are once again at the forefront of global affairs.

Domestically, the planned replacement of Trident has caused major divisions amongst the British political establishment and has been particularly notable within the Labour Party. Whilst its leader, Jeremy Corbyn, and grassroots membership are opposed to spending over £205 billion on a new generation of nuclear weapons, a significant number of its MPs support the Government’s pro-Trident stance.

All of these issues and more were discussed and debated in a fascinating meeting. A big thank you to everyone who came!

The following day, they will be given a tour of the city and will visit the International Slavery Museum, the Cavern and the Nordic Church.
